Public Art and Sustainability Top Agenda for May 20 SSP Meeting
Stow officials to discuss "Creative Place Making" on Monday at 7 pm
Interested in learning about future plans for our city parks and public spaces?
A panel comprised of city officials and the Arts Commission chair will discuss efforts to develop public art projects that can give Stow its own unique identity, enhance public spaces and bolster economic development.
"Creative Place Making" is the featured topic at the Stow Sunshine Project meeting on Monday, May 20 at 7 pm at the Stow Safety Center community room. Panel members will include Stow Law Director Drew Reilly, Stow Planning Director Zack Cowan, Director of Parks & Recreation Linda Nahrstedt and Arts Commission Chair Leila Griffiths.
Sustainability Proposal Needs Resident Support
Also on the meeting agenda is discussion of a proposal by Council At-Large Kyle Herman to have Stow become a Power a Clean Future Ohio community, which would provide the administration with free consulting and resources on economical clean energy initiatives.
The proposal was presented to City Council at its April 25 meeting and will be voted on at the May 23 meeting at 7 pm in council chambers.
Residents who would like the city to explore sustainability initiatives by partnering with the nonprofit organization are invited to attend the Stow Sunshine Project meeting to discuss the topic and share their input with city officials in attendance and to voice their opinion during the public comment period at the May 23 council meeting.
Mayor's Office, Parks & Rec Updates
Mayor John Pribonic and Linda Nahrstedt also will provide brief updates on the new Stow Community Center and other projects in progress or upcoming.
Stow Sunshine Project meetings, held once a month, are designed to provide Stow residents with opportunities to get the inside scoop on what's going on in our community and to participate in open, informal dialogue with our city officials.
